Lord Vishnu, the Preserver of the Universe, is one of the principal deities in Hinduism, representing balance, protection, and dharma (righteousness). His divine stories are spread across the Vedas, Puranas, and epics like the Ramayana and Mahabharata, symbolizing the cosmic struggle between good and evil. At the heart of Vishnu’s mythology lies the Dashavatara — his ten incarnations taken across the ages to restore cosmic order. From the fish form (Matsya) saving the Vedas during the Great Flood, to the upcoming Kalki, who will end the darkness of Kaliyuga, each avatar answers a divine call to rescue creation from chaos. In the Samudra Manthan (Churning of the Ocean), Vishnu plays multiple roles — as the tortoise Kurma supporting the churning mountain, and as the enchanting Mohini, who distributes the nectar of immortality and outwits the demons. It is here that Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and his eternal consort, emerges and unites with Vishnu — forming the divine pair of Lakshmi-Narayan. As Vamana, the dwarf Brahmin, Vishnu humbles the mighty demon-king Bali with three cosmic strides — teaching humility and devotion. In his most celebrated forms — Rama and Krishna — he becomes the ideal king and the divine friend, guiding humanity through love, justice, and wisdom. Krishna’s teachings in the Bhagavad Gita remain a spiritual cornerstone for seekers across the world. Vishnu is also known to rest upon the serpent Ananta (Shesha) in the cosmic ocean, dreaming the worlds into existence, while his vehicle Garuda symbolizes the flight of divine truth. Through his stories, Lord Vishnu emerges not just as a god of preservation, but as a divine protector who descends whenever dharma declines — assuring devotees that whenever evil rises, he will return to restore balance and truth.
