This film, set in the pre-Independence era, talks about a group of prisoners at the Midnapore jail who challenge British officers to a game of football. Starring actors Ritwik Chakraborty, Sudip Sarkar, Satyam Bhattacharya and Arjun Chakraborty, this period drama highlights the injustices meted to Indians during colonial rule. Directed by Rohan Ghosh, the period drama focuses on the brutality faced by the political prisoners in the jail. Dibakar (Arjun) is a rebel who refuses to take such unjust treatment without protest. He utilises every opportunity of mutiny. Sarkar’s Rehmat (much like his name, which means mercy) propagates teachings of non-violence within the inmates. Despite their differences in ideology, the film charts how each jailed citizen comes together to counter the British treatment by taking up the challenge of the match.
