Actress Tamannaah Bhatia opens up about Virat Kohli dating speculations

Bollywood actress Tamannaah Bhatia has finally opened up on the long-standing rumour suggesting she once dated Indian veteran cricketer Virat Kohli. And, spoiler alert, the reality is not what you are expecting. In a recent chat with The Lallantop, she gave fans the lowdown on what really happened, with honesty and a touch of her signature humour. 

People had been speculating ever since a commercial featuring Tamannaah and Kohli emerged years ago. What sparked the dating buzz? A still from that shoot went viral, and suddenly, the media had a story. But Tamannaah says it’s all blown way out of proportion, nothing more than a fleeting, professional meeting. 

In her candid words: “I feel so bad because I literally met him for only one day. I have never met Virat after the shoot. Na maine unse baat ki na unse mili hun (I haven’t spoken to him, nor have I met him).” The statement is enough to put those rumours to rest.

She handled the entire thing with poise, joking that it’s awkward when the media creates connections with people you’ve barely met. Tamannaah isn’t shy about calling out the absurdity either, especially about another viral rumour involving former Pakistani cricketer Abdul Razzaq, which she quipped was based on an innocent jewelry-store appearance. “Mazaak mazaak mein Abdul Razzaq! The Internet is a fun place…” she laughed, and added, “I was briefly married to Abdul Razzaq”, clearly in jest. 

Despite the awkward attention, Tamannaah seems unfazed in her own way. She’s reflected on how these baseless speculations can be embarrassing, but also something you gradually learn to live with. “It is very awkward when the media links you to someone you have absolutely no connection with… But there is nothing you can do. Over time, you learn to accept it,” she shared. 

On the personal front, while the cricketer connection was just tabloid fodder, her only publicly acknowledged relationship in recent years was with actor Vijay Varma. The pair reportedly dated beginning around their collaboration on Lust Stories 2, before parting ways in early 2025. Neither has formally confirmed the split, but reports suggest differences in life goals played a role.
