The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2016 has been one of the greatest ICC events in terms of fan engagement and records broken. Before India takes on Zimbabwe in one of the most important Super 8 games in Chennai, we at OTTPlay give you a list of records that have already been broken in this current campaign.

West Indies cross 250

Two-time champions West Indies turned the Wankhede Stadium into a heating range during their Super 8 clash against Zimbabwe. By posting 254/6, they became the second team to cross the 250 mark in T20 World Cup history and are now the holders of the second-highest total in the tournament's history, trailing only Sri Lanka's 260/6 in 2007 against Kenya.

19 sixes in an innings

During their record-breaking 254/6 against Zimbabwe, West Indians also went on to equal the record for the most sixes in a single innings in T20 World Cup history. They struck 19 sixes in that innings and now have equalled the record of the Netherlands, who had done it in 2014 against Ireland in Sylhet.

Fastest fifty by a West Indian

That match against Zimbabwe also had Simran Hetmyer breaking two records for the West Indian team. He broke the record for the fastest 50 by a West Indian in T20 World Cup history when he achieved the landmark in just 19 balls in Mumbai.

Not only that, with his 85 off 34 balls, he has now reached 219 runs in the ongoing campaign, which is the most by a West Indian player in T20 World Cup history.

Harry Brook's incredible ton

With his stunning 51-ball 100 against Pakistan in their Super 8 game in Sri Lanka, English captain Harry Brook has now become the first-ever captain to hit a ton in T20 World Cup history.

His century also tied for the second-fastest ton in the tournament's history.

Shadley van Schalkwyk's record-breaking T20 World Cup 2026

ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 has been an incredible World Cup for the Associate Nations. USA pacer Shadley van Schalkwyk's 13 wickets in the T20 World Cup 2026 have now set the record for the most wickets taken by any bowler from Associate Nations in the tournament's history.

Double Super Over record

The Afghanistan vs South Africa game in the group stage saw a once-in-a-lifetime moment when the game reached a double Super Over after the first Super Over ended in a tie.

This was the first time a T20 World Cup game witnessed a second Super Over as Tristan Stubbs hit a six in the final ball of the first over to take the game into the second Super Over.

South Africa eventually won the game by winning the second Super Over.
