India’s Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 triumph will forever be remembered for its emotion, grit, and the emergence of two fearless stars who lit up the global stage. Former India skipper Anjum Chopra, reflecting on the title win, praised youngsters Shree Charani and Kranti Goud for displaying remarkable composure and match awareness well beyond their years. Their performances, she said, not only complemented the experienced core but also signaled a generational shift in Indian women’s cricket.

India’s new era led by courage, not experience

While India’s senior players formed the backbone of the team, it was Charani and Goud who injected the spark that turned matches in India’s favor. The duo, barely a few months into their international careers, became instrumental in India’s unbeaten campaign, a feat that saw them crowned world champions for the first time.

Shree Charani, the young left-arm spinner, impressed with her control and temperament under pressure, often breaking partnerships when India needed it most. Her ability to vary pace and flight stood out even against top-tier batters, earning her praise from teammates and experts alike. On the other hand, Kranti Goud’s fiery pace and knack for early breakthroughs gave India a cutting edge in the powerplay overs. Her spell against South Africa in the final, where she dismissed two top-order batters, was a game-changer.

Chopra, in her analysis, highlighted how both players brought energy and intent that elevated the entire squad. For the former captain, the duo’s performances were more than statistics; they were a reflection of a fearless mindset shaping the next generation of cricketers.

"What impressed me the most was how Shree Charani and Kranti Goud played in this World Cup. This was their first appearance, and they are just six months into the Indian team. The way these two youngsters performed and delivered at the highest level was remarkable. I wouldn't say I was surprised, but they impressed me more than any senior player in the team," said Anjum Chopra as quoted by NDTV.
