Soon after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lifted their 5th Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 fans were gutted to hear that their favourite skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni would be undergoing knee surgery. However, they are now happy to know that the captain underwent a successful left knee surgery at a Mumbai hospital on Thursday.

Dhoni travelled to Mumbai from Ahmedabad after the final on Monday to consult with renowned sports orthopaedic surgeon Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala.

The doctor, who is also part of the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) medical team, had also performed surgeries on Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed to PTI earlier today, "Yes, Dhoni has had a successful knee surgery at the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai on Thursday. He is doing fine and the surgery happened in the morning. I don't have the details. I am yet to get all the details about the nature of the surgery and other things."

Soon after the surgery, fans took to social media to wish the CSK 'Thala' a speedy recovery.

The reason behind MS Dhoni’s knee surgery:

Before the IPL began, MS Dhoni had been dealing with knee problems for a number of months. The injury, which probably started as a result of the intense training for the Indian Premier League, flared up during the 2023 IPL. He nevertheless guided his group to success.

MS Dhoni has a long healing process ahead of him, and it's anticipated that he won't train for the next four to five months. However, the CSK skipper has declared that he will take part in the IPL 2024.
