The Aussies have dominated the South Africans in the shortest international format so far. In the 27 games between them so far, Australia won 18 times while South Africa emerged victorious in 9 matches.
We can expect a windy day with mild temperatures ranging from 17 to 26°C, favouring bowlers with some handy seam movement and bounce on that wicket in Cairns.

Australia kicked off the series on a strong note by posting a competitive 178 and then holding their nerves to defend it successfully in the opening game in Darwin. However, the resilient South African side struck back emphatically in the second match by putting up a formidable total of 218/7, courtesy of Dewald Brevis’ explosive century, the fastest T20 hundred ever recorded against Australia.
Australia faces a key challenge going into this final match with the unavailability of Mitchell Owen, who suffered a concussion in the previous game. Aaron Hardie will fill the void and provide a much-needed boost to their squad. Tim David and all-rounders like Cameron Green will be vital for them with the bat, as openers have failed to get going for them.

Their experienced spinner, Adam Zampa, will play a crucial role in controlling the middle overs and picking crucial wickets, along with Glenn Maxwell, who has emerged as a key cog in the powerplay with the ball in hand.

South Africa, on the other hand, is brimming with confidence after their dominant second-game performance. Apart from the heroics of Dewald Brevis, established batsmen like Rassie van der Dussen and young spinner George Linde will be keen to contribute and keep the momentum going.
However, South Africa will hope that their captain, Aiden Markram, gets going in the final match of the series. Markram has not scored a T20I half-century in his last 30 innings and reached 20 just four times in 20 innings since the start of 2024.
South Africa have only won a single T20I series in Australia against Australia in 2018/19. They had defeated the Aussies in a lone T20I game of the series by 21 runs in a rain-affected match.
