Experienced wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim faced an odd dismissal in the 2nd Test between Bangladesh and New Zealand played in Dhaka. Rahim made a backfoot defensive shot and, seeing the ball go to the stumps, he stopped it with an instantaneous hand move. This was Rahim's second attempt at the move, and after New Zealand filed an appeal, Rahim was forced off the field.

By doing this, he made cricket history in Bangladesh by being the first player to be dismissed for obstructing the field. There have been previous in international cricket, with players such as Inzamam-ul-Haq and Ben Stokes suffering comparable repercussions. Alex Ross was also dismissed for a similar conduct in the Big Bash League (BBL).

WATCH:

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Bangladesh was all out for just 172 runs on Day 1 of the second Test, which put them in a difficult position. The team led by Najmul Shanto won the opening game by a margin of 150 runs, but their batting display in the 2nd Test was lacklustre. The game's momentum changed when Mushfiqur was dismissed because it shattered his partnership with Shahadat Hossain.

As for the Kiwis, Ajaz Patel, Mitchell Santner, and Glenn Phillips concentrated on tight areas and have demonstrated their effectiveness once more in the bowling department.
