In the 5th match of the Asia Cup 2025 in Abu Dhabi, Bangladesh lost two early wickets without adding any runs to the board. Nuwan Thushara and Dushmantha Chameera took the wickets for the Lankan team.
Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bowl first to take advantage of the early moisture on the pitch.
Charith Asalanka’s decision was proven right by his fast bowlers as Nuwan Thushara bowled a wicket maiden to start the innings.
The slinging fast bowler was able to get the ball full and swinging into left-handed Tanzid Hasan. After nearly bating him quite a few times and hitting the pads, Tushara was able to get the ball through the bat and pad and hit the off-stump to get the first wicket on the last ball of the first over.
In the second over, the fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera got rid of Parvez Hossain Emon as the batter looked to go for an expensive drive on the up and only managed to get an outside edge back to the wicket-keeper.
Chameera even went on to bowl another maiden over as Bangladesh’s scorecard became 0/2.
Bangladesh’s tough time continued as Towhid Hridoy was sent back to the dressing room with a direct hit by Kamil Mishara from the boundary line. Hridoy’s wicket made the scorecard look 11/3 after 4.3 overs for Bangladesh.
