The Indian Premier League (IPL) has addressed the growing concerns surrounding the availability of overseas players for the 2026 season, confirming that the tournament schedule will proceed as planned. With uncertainty looming over the participation of several foreign stars due to international commitments and other external factors, speculation had been rife about possible changes to the tournament calendar.
However, league officials have made it clear that there will be no alterations to the schedule. The IPL remains committed to its original timeline, ensuring that the tournament runs smoothly without disruptions. This decision provides clarity to fans and stakeholders who were worried about potential delays or rescheduling. The franchise owners are concerned about the injuries, but some are content with their teams.
“It is up to the franchises to decide on the participation of some foreign players who are missing the tournament. Only the injured players are yet to join, while some others are managing workload concerns. That decision will rest with the franchises. The IPL will commence as scheduled and with full fanfare,” an IPL official told IANS.
Amidst the ongoing injury crisis, the IPL 2026 is all set to start from March 28 in Bengaluru. The first match will be played between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Meanwhile, the schedule is only released for the first 20 matches, and the rest will be announced once the election dates are released.
The ticket sales for some of the matches have gone live, while the rest are yet to go live. Moreover, the first match ticket sale has not yet started, creating confusion among the players. The fans are anticipating a stunning season this year since the players are in form, especially the Indians who were in the World Cup squad.
