The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to pay special tribute to the Indian armed forces during the IPL 2025 closing ceremony at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3. The Indian armed forces carried out 'Operation Sindoor' to eliminate terror camps residing in Pakistan to avenge the loss of lives in a cowardly terror attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has confirmed that the IPL 2025 closing ceremony would pay tribute to the Indian armed forces. He said, "Yes, the IPL 2025 closing ceremony will honour the Indian armed forces."
The BCCI has also sent invitations for the closing ceremony to the Chief of Defence Staff Anil Chauhan, Chief of Army Staff Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Navy Staff Dinesh K Tripathi, and Chief of Air Staff AP Singh.
A source close to Hindustan Times said, "We are grateful for the constant bravery, courage and service of our armed forces. We want to give a special tribute to honour their efforts under Operation Sindoor. The IPL 2025 closing ceremony will be a tribute to the Armed Forces. We have already sent out invitations to the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Navy Staff and the Chief of Air Staff."
The IPL 2025 closing ceremony is all set to feature a grand spectacle for the viewers with special performances from the military bands. It will also feature musical performances from prominent faces of the music industry during the evening.
The IPL 2025 is heading towards the playoffs stage with four teams already qualified for it: Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans, and Mumbai Indians. The playoffs are set to kick off from May 29 with qualifier 1 at Mullanpur, Chandigarh.
The IPL 2025 is currently running on an updated schedule, as the tournament was paused for seven days following escalating tensions between India and Pakistan after Operation Sindoor.
