The South Korean rapper, songwriter, producer, and BTS star SUGA has been named an NBA Ambassador, according to the National Basketball Association and BIGHIT MUSIC Entertainment.

SUGA will interact with NBA fans all across the world as an NBA Ambassador for the duration of the 2022–23 NBA season and beyond. SUGA will also take part in a number of league initiatives that will be highlighted on the NBA's and his own social media platforms. These initiatives will include going to NBA games and events in the United States and Asia as well.

Talking about his new role, SUGA said, "Music and basketball have been shared passions of mine since my youth, and it's a dream to be named an NBA Ambassador. I'm excited to formalize my relationship with the NBA, and I can't wait to share some exciting collaborations I have planned with the league over the coming months."

NBA Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer Mark Tatum also spoke about the new relationship and said, "We’re thrilled to join forces with SUGA – a superstar musician, fashion icon, and passionate NBA fan. We look forward to working with SUGA to bring the same excitement he engenders from his global fanbase in support of our continued efforts to grow our brand."

The NBA will also be present throughout SUGA's first solo world tour, working with the singer-songwriter to promote a few of his shows in honour of the release of her debut solo album, D-DAY. 

Last September, SUGA also attended The NBA Japan Games 2022 which featured reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors and the Washington Wizards. SUGA had had a meet-and-greet with NBA players and legends. He had also attended the Dallas Mavericks at Los Angeles Lakers game on January 12.
