Delhi Capitals have finally addressed the growing uncertainty surrounding Mitchell Starc’s availability for IPL 2026, putting an end to widespread speculation among fans and experts. The Australian pacer, who remains one of the most sought-after fast bowlers in world cricket, is yet to confirm his participation for the upcoming season, raising concerns within the franchise and its supporters.

Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani opened up about Starc’s availability and mentioned that they are in constant touch with Cricket Australia (CA). However, they don’t know the exact date when the seamer will join the team. Hence, they are yet to make plans around him.

“We are waiting to get the NOC from Cricket Australia. Once we get that, we will know when he will join us," Badani told reporters in New Delhi on Monday.

“We are in constant touch with CA. He had a bowl a few days back. Unless Cricket Australia signs off on him that he is fit to play, there is little a franchise can do," he added.

We are waiting for an update: Axar Patel

Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Axar Patel also said the same thing ahead of the IPL 2026. The spinner mentioned that they are still waiting for an update, and until then, they are not looking for any replacement since they have enough players. He also mentioned that T. Natarajan is completely fit and is likely to play.

“It is tough to answer that at this stage. If Starc gets NOC, he can also come before the first match. We are waiting for that update. If he doesn’t come, there is no temptation to replace a left-arm pacer with a left-arm pacer," said Axar.

“It is about team combination. Having said that, Natajaran is doing really well and is 100 per cent fit,” he added.
