Delhi Capitals women beat Gujarat Giants in WPL 2026 eliminator, enter 4th consecutive final

The Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 has got the second finalist of the season as Delhi Capitals Women beat Gujarat Giants Women by seven wickets in the Eliminator. This is the fourth time DC have entered the finals in the competition. They have a fine team this season and also have an upper edge on their opponents, Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Both teams have met in the finals in 2024 where RCB emerged to be victorious, winning their maiden title. DC have played three finals but have ended up as the runners up every single time. Jemimah Rodrigues and the team will be looking forward to change the history in 2026.
The Eliminator started with DC winning the toss and deciding to bat first. While the odds and the previous records at the BCA Stadium, Kotambi, Vadodara were against them, Jemimah Rodrigues felt that chasing would be a better option. As it turns out, she was correct.
The Giants kept losing wickets at regular intervals. It was a splendid knock from Beth Mooney (62) and a cameo by Georgia Wareham (35) that helped GG post 168 runs on the board. While it looked like a huge target since it was a knockout game, DC openers had a different plan this time. Chinelle Henry was the standout bowler for DC, claiming three wickets.
Jemimah Rodrigues' dominating innings helped DC book finals berth
Jemimah Rodrigues has done it again for her team. Just like how she rescued India during the semi-final against Australia in the ODI World Cup 2025, she did the same with DC today. Playing from the front, she scored 41 off 23 balls, including four boundaries and one six. Her knock helped DC speed up in the middle overs, finishing the chase in just 15.4 overs.
However, the openers gave a great start to the innings which is one of the reasons why the pressure was less on the middle order batters. Lizelle Lee scored 43 off 24 balls, while Shafali Verma slammed 31 off 21 deliveries. Laura Wolvaardt remained unbeaten on 32 off 24 balls. Overall, it was a great game of cricket and the fans would anticipate the same for the finals.
