Dhruv Jurel opens up on ODI call-up vs New Zealand: ‘I focus on process’

India's star wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel has played some incredible knock in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Tropy 2025. In the previous match against Baroda, he slammed 160 off 101 balls. Since then, there have been reports circulating around Jurel getting his maiden ODI call-up from the selectors. He is also the second-highest run-scorer of the tournament so far.
Speaking about the tournament and his upcoming goals, Jurel revealed that he is not focusing on the results but rather the process. The keeper-batter spoke about the hard work he has done before the start of the tournament and how it has helped him during the matches.
"I don’t set too many goals for myself. I focus on the process. Even before the Vijay Hazare Trophy, when I got some time, I got some time, I was batting for 4-5 hours and creating scenarios in my mind about what I can do. Whatever the result and selection may be, no one can take my hard work away from me. That’s why I work hard. It has brought me this far and will take me further," said Dhruv Jurel as quoted by TOI.

The Indian selectors are most likely to stick to the same squad that was there during the South Africa series. Most of the players performed during the series and have cemented their place until Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer return to the squad. Meanwhile, KL Rahul is already present as the first choice keeper and has been performing well in the middle order.
Many reports suggest that the selectors are juggling between Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant for the second choice keeper and amid this, Jurel's chances are low. Kishan is in great form, and has already made it to the T20I team. The squad announcement is due in a few days, so until then, the fans will have to wait for a confirmation.
