The Indian cricket team arrived in Kerala’s capital today to a hero’s welcome, but it wasn't just the rhythmic chenda melam or the sea of blue jerseys that caught the public's attention. A light-hearted moment between Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav (SKY) and local favourite Sanju Samson has taken social media by storm, proving that despite the high-pressure environment of international cricket, the camaraderie in the dressing room remains top-tier.

As the team exited the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport ahead of their final T20I clash against New Zealand, hundreds of fans swarmed the arrival gate, chanting "Sanju, Sanju!" and "Sanju-etta!" (a term of endearment meaning elder brother in Malayalam).

In a video that has since racked up millions of views on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, Suryakumar Yadav can be seen walking just ahead of Samson. Seeing the frenzy and hearing the "Chetta" chants from the crowd, SKY decided to have some fun at his teammate's expense.

With a mischievous grin, Suryakumar turned toward the crowd and the accompanying security personnel, playfully waving them back. He was heard jokingly saying:

"Please give way, please... Don’t disturb Chetta! Chetta is coming!"

Samson, usually reserved, couldn't help but break into a wide smile, blushing as his captain "cleared the path" for the hometown hero with theatrical flair.

The banter comes at a crucial time. India is currently leading the five-match T20I series against the Black Caps, but for Sanju Samson, the final game at the Greenfield International Stadium is more than just a match. Despite his long career, Samson has rarely had the opportunity to play an international game in front of his home crowd in Kerala.

With the T20 World Cup 2026 just days away, the pressure is on Samson to deliver a big score and cement his spot as the primary wicketkeeper-opener.
