The crowd at the JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi, was overwhelmed with the performance they witnessed between India and South Africa on November 30, 2025. Virat Kohli’s century, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma’s half-centuries made the game interesting in the first innings as they helped India post 349 runs.

It was Kohli’s century that was the most enjoyed, as he went past Sachin Tendulkar to become the first player to score the highest number of centuries in a single format. With cameras pointed towards him, he enjoyed his moment thoroughly as a fan came in and touched his feet right after the century. Kohli tried to stop him, but by then the on-field staff arrived and removed him from the stadium.

The moment was extremely precious for all the Kohli fans and for Indian cricket viewers since the century marks Kohli’s dedication and gives a stern answer to all the trolls and criticisms that have been going around regarding his inclusion in the ODI World Cup 2027. The century was, in fact, a sweet reminder to not write him off yet.

Have silenced a lot of people: Ravi Shastri

India’s former cricketer and head coach Ravi Shastri was ecstatic after Virat Kohli slammed a century against South Africa. His voice eroded with happiness, and during the commentary, he mentioned that the century must have ‘silenced a lot of people.’ Indeed, the century was nothing less than an answer. Even in the previous ODI game against Australia, Kohli missed out on his century by a short margin which speaks volumes about his current form.

“It's number 52. Gets it with a boundary. Punches the air in delight. It has been a long wait. This is the format he plays now, and he would have silenced a lot of people. His third on the ground,” said Shastri when he was on commentary.

“It has been a brilliant innings, just the way he got there. Just the timing on that shot,” he added.
