A spectacular opening ceremony for the eagerly anticipated FIH Men's Hockey World Cup 2023 will take place on Wednesday at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Odisha.
'Celebrations', the name of the opening ceremony for the hockey World Cup, will highlight India's vibrant culture and contemporary achievements.
The event will be graced by international and local Odia celebrities who will perform during the event, illuminating the stadium with their music and dance.
Who will perform at the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 opening ceremony?
Some of the celebrities slated to perform in a jam-packed 40,000-capacity stadium are Bollywood stars Ranveer Singh and Disha Patani, as well as critically renowned K-Pop band BLACKSWAN, which includes Shreya Lenka from Odisha.
The official Hockey World Cup anthem, 'Hockey Hai Dil Mera', was written by Bollywood music artist Pritam. He will perform live alongside the song's 11 performers.
When will the FIH Hockey World Cup 2023 opening ceremony begin?
The FIH Hockey World Cup opening ceremony will begin on Wednesday (11 January) at 6:00 PM IST at the Barabati Stadium. The district administration of Cuttack has also declared that all schools and institutions will be closed on Wednesday after 2:00 PM IST.
Giant LED screens and 16 Hockey Fan Parks have been set up across the city for live streaming of the opening ceremony.
"The Celebration is an integral part of the tournament as it symbolizes our pride in both our state and our nation for playing host to the Hockey World Cup for the second consecutive time," Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey said.
