Test cricket is considered the most trickiest and the highest format of cricket, loved by the cricket lovers. The five-day per match format is exhauting, tests patience, and will only allow players to succeed who are filled with perseverance. Whenever we hear Test cricket, players like Sir Don Bradman and Sachin Tendulkar come to our mind as they are the best of their generation.

Now, the world has Joe Root, who is in a journey to dethrone Sachin Tendulkar from the highest score record and write his own name at the helm. Root, who has slammed centuries across the globe, scored his first ton in Australia in the first Test match of the Ashes series in Perth.

He now scored his second century of the series in Sydney. Talking about his performance, Australia's former batter Darren Lehman mentioned that Root is on the way of breaking Sachin and Bradman's record. Root scored 160 off 242 balls, including 15 boundaries.

"I've said it before, once he ticked off the hundred in Australia, he'll be the greatest player outside of Bradman, statistically. He'll break all the records. He'll beat Tendulkar, he'll make more hundreds than anyone else. And it'll take a lot of catching because he's quite fit," said Darren Lehman as quoted by TOI.

I think you might be looking into it a little bit too much: Joe Root

When Joe Root was dismissed at 160 runs, he walked back to the pavilion but waved towards the crowd and looked emotional and that caught the attention of the cricket experts. When he was asked about his retirement and that this Ashes tour in Australia might be his last, Root denied the claims. He is currently the second-highest run-scorer in Test cricket, just behind Sachin Tendulkar.

"I think you might be looking into it a little bit too much. I just felt like we've had some amazing support throughout this series, and we've not been able to achieve what we set out to as a group. But at no point has that (support) ever wavered, and that's never wavered whenever I've come out here on tour, it's been exceptional. And it's a way of saying thank you, really," said Root.
