Rajasthan Royals (RR) have suffered a huge blow ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 as their star all-rounder Sam Curran has sustained an injury and is ruled out of the tournament. Curran, who went to RR in a trade deal for Sanju Samson, was expected to play throughout the league since he is an experienced player and had a good outing in the T20 World Cup 2026.
However, India's former cricketer Kris Srikkant has different opinions. While talking on his YouTube channel, Srikkant mentioned that Curran's injury is not a loss for the franchise since he has not played quality cricket in the past few seasons. Moreover, he stressed on the fact that the all-rounder was hit for runs in the World Cup and his absence will be beneficial for the franchise.
"It's unfortunate he got injured. But if he played, the opposition would have relished his bowling. Everyone smashed him in the T20 World Cup. So it doesn't matter."

The one-time IPL champions RR will start their campaign against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 30 in Guwahati. The players will be looking forward to the encounter because of the trade deal that happened between the two teams. While Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran came to RR, Sanju Samson went to CSK. Ahead of the tournament, the franchise has announced the replacement for Sam Curran.
Sri Lanka's T20I captain Dasun Shanaka will replace Curran in this season. He is in an incredible form and finished the tournament by scoring an unbeaten 76 runs against Pakistan. He picks up wickets with the ball as well. Hence, it will be interesting to see how he performs in the IPL 2026 if he gets a chance to play. Shanaka is not a regular name in the tournament but this is a great chance for him to make his own name.
