'Good things happen' - Suryakumar Yadav heaped praise on Sanju Samson's knock against West Indies in T20 World Cup 2026

India's captain Suryakumar Yadav, has always supported Sanju Samson in the T20Is. Now, after his match-winning knock against West Indies in the T20 World Cup 2026, Suryakumar opened up about how he had always believed in him. Samson scored 50-ball 97 runs in the match, hitting 12 boundaries and four sixes. 

SKY mentioned that he had always told Samson to believe in himself as good things happen to good people who wait. This was a redemption arc for Samson, who wasn't even included in the team a few days back. His performance not only helped India win the game, but also to travel to the semi-finals. 

"See, I always say, good things happen to good people who wait, who have a lot of patience. I said it just now as well when I met him. But then it's all his hard work, what he's been doing behind the doors when he was not playing, and he's got the fruit of it at the perfect stage. And the way he batted, took the side completely to the victory," said Suryakumar Yadav at the post-match presentation.

Suryakumar Yadav mentioned about the bowlers and how they performed well in the game. They bowled in the right areas and took wickets at the right time. It was a crucial match and playing with responsibility is something that was needed by the Indian team. They performed well overall, keeping the correct balance. India went to complete their record chase and have qualified for the semi-finals. 

" I feel everyone bowled according to the plans. We knew 200 is always a good score to chase here at Eden with the dew and the way wicket becomes in the second innings, the ball comes onto the bat nicely. And the way batters responded later on with those small, small partnerships, I think that was the key to take the game deep," he added.
