England captain Harry Brook has sparked discussion ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal against India after making a confident remark about his team’s chances. Speaking before the high-stakes encounter at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Brook said England do not need to produce a “perfect game” to defeat India.

According to him, the team’s unity, belief, and ability to handle pressure have been the key reasons behind their successful run in the tournament so far. While they have not always dominated matches from start to finish, the team has shown the ability to recover from difficult situations.

“No, I don't believe that we need a perfect game to win the competition to be honest. The games that we have won have been nowhere near perfect and we've still managed to get the wins convincingly in some of them and then tight (in) the other games,” Brook said duing the press conference.

“But it's just the unity that we've had to be able to get across the line, the belief that everybody's shown throughout the games and the calmness that we've had when the bowlers have stood at the top of the mark,” he added.

Can England beat India in semi-final 2?

In the smei-final 1 between South Africa and New Zealand, the Proteas entered the game as clear favorites. However, they were defeated by New Zealand. Hence, it's quite unpredictable since everything depends on the match day, The side that plays better cricket and has a good day is likely to take the game home.

However, entering the contest, both teams will have to keep their playing XI sorted and hope that everything works out in their favor. In the upcoming clash, India will have the home ground advantage but if England will bring in the spinners early, they might put the Indian batters in trouble.
