Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill was quite clear about his ambition in this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. He revealed that he doesn’t want his bowlers to be ‘calm’ but rather fierce. In the previous season, the Titans qualified for the playoffs but couldn’t advance further.
However, they did play good cricket, and Gill acknowledged the fact that the players gave their best in the tournament. He is expecting the same efforts from the players this season as well. GT will start their campaign against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on March 31 in New Chandigarh.
"I do not want my fast bowlers to be calm. I want them to be fierce just like Ashu Pa was. I'm sure you must have seen videos of how Ashu Pa acknowledged dropped catches when he was playing,” said Shubman Gill during an interaction with host and TV personality Mandira Bedi.
"Even last year, we had a very successful season. We did not win the trophy, but that does not take away from the brand of cricket we played. We are now here to rectify the mistakes we made last season. We did fall short in some of the things," he added.
The Gujarat Titans (GT) have a strong squad, and choosing a playing XI will not be a difficult task. They will retain most of the players from the previous season but will also have some newcomers. Moreover, they will not change the opening pair as Sai Sudarshan and Shubman Gill have complimented each other really well in the tournament.
GT’s probable playing 11 for IPL 2026: Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill (C), Jos Buttler (WK), Glenn Phillips, Rahul Tewatia, Washington Sundar, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Sai Kishore, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj
