India’s legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar has hailed star pacer Mohammed Siraj for his fiery performance during India’s recently concluded Test series against England. Writing in a Reddit post, Tendulkar praised Siraj’s intensity and endurance, particularly highlighting how the pacer maintained high speeds deep into matches, a trait few bowlers can manage.

Siraj ended the five-match series as India’s highest wicket-taker, playing a pivotal role in the series which was levelled 2-2. He picked up 23 wickets across the series, including two five-wicket hauls, at Edgbaston and The Oval. His reverse-swing masterclass at the Oval, where India clinched the decider, turned the tide in India’s favour after a tight first innings.

"Unbelievable. Superb approach. I love his attitude. I love the spring in his legs," Tendulkar said. “For a fast bowler to be constantly in your face like that, no batsman will like it. And the approach he had till the end on the last day, I could hear commentators also saying he bowled around 90mph (145kph) on the last day after having bowled more than 1000 deliveries in the series. That shows his courage and big heart,” Tendulkar said on his Reddit account.

Siraj’s performance has also sparked a wider debate around workload management in Indian cricket. While some top players, including Jasprit Bumrah, have sat out series citing workload, Siraj bowled a total of 185.3 overs during the England series, the most by any Indian pacer. His ability to keep his pace intact while maintaining accuracy over such a long series has impressed both fans and experts.

According to reports, the BCCI is set to take a stronger stance against players selectively choosing when to rest. With Gautam Gambhir as head coach and Ajit Agarkar as chief selector, the board is likely to push for greater consistency in availability, especially from senior players.

Siraj’s bowling has been described as a blend of heart, hustle, and discipline, traits Tendulkar values highly. His ability to reverse swing the old ball, bowl long spells, and rattle set batters has cemented his place as one of India’s most dependable fast bowlers in the current era.
