ICC Women’s World Cup ’25: Chinnaswamy axed off as venue; DY Patil replaces
Due to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium’s unavailability, Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium will replace it as a venue, hosting five matches, including a semi-final and potentially the final.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed a revised schedule for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 to be held in India and Sri Lanka. Due to the unavailability of Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium will now replace Bengaluru as one of the five key venues for the tournament.
Why has Chinnaswamy been replaced?
After the stampede incident during RCB’s IPL-winning ceremony, the Karnataka High Court had stopped Chinnaswamy Stadium from hosting any event. Even KSCA’s own state T20 league, the Maharaja T20 trophy, is getting played in Mysore.
When is the Women’s World Cup?
The 50-over World Cup will commence on 30 September and conclude on 2 November, with dates remaining unchanged despite the venue switch.
The DY Patil Stadium will host up to five matches, including three league games, a semi-final, and potentially the final.
Other confirmed venues include ACA Stadium in Guwahati, Holkar Stadium in Indore, ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam, and R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The revised schedule of the Indian Women’s Cricket team
ICC Chairman Jay Shah expressed confidence in the new venue, highlighting Navi Mumbai’s growing reputation as a stronghold for women’s cricket.
He noted the enthusiastic support during recent international matches and the Women’s Premier League, believing this energy will elevate the World Cup experience.
“Navi Mumbai has emerged as a genuine home for women’s cricket in recent years. The support it has received during international fixtures and the Women’s Premier League has been remarkable, creating an atmosphere that elevates the players and inspires fans. I am certain that the same energy will define the big matches of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup as it returns to India after 12 years," Jay Shah said via icc-cricket.com
“The stage is set for a defining milestone in women’s cricket, not only for India but globally,” Shah said. The tournament’s final will be held either in Colombo or Navi Mumbai on 2 November, with the semi-finals scheduled for Guwahati or Colombo on 29 October and Navi Mumbai on 30 October.
