India won the toss and asked Oman to bat first. Oman captain Hammad Mirza gave them a flying start as they reached 36 in the first four overs. Gurjapneet Singh and Vijaykumar Vyshak went for plenty in their first two overs, but Mirza’s dismissals, caught by Jitesh Sharma off Vyshak in the fourth over, ended Oman’s early flurry.
With Mirza gone, Oman needed someone to anchor the innings, and Wasim Ali stepped up admirably.
Batting through the majority of the innings, Ali struck a composed 54* off 45 balls, scoring five fours and one six while maintaining a strike rate of 120. His innings was a blend of careful accumulation and opportunistic stroke play, weathering periods of tight bowling and capitalising on scoring opportunities.
Narayan Saishiv (16 off 14) provided useful support with a brief cameo, highlighting a middle phase where Oman looked set for a bigger score. Aryan Bisht (4 off 5) and Sufyan Mehmood (8 off 14) kept the scoreboard ticking, but failed to accelerate when required.
India-A bowlers mixed pace and spin smartly to restrict Oman’s progress after the powerplay.
Suyash Sharma produced an impressive spell, taking 2/12 in his four overs with disciplined lines and lengths, claiming the wickets of Karan Sonavale and Zikria Islam.
Gurjapneet Singh matched Suyash’s wicket tally, though he proved more expensive, conceding 37 in his four.
Vyshak, the spearhead upfront, returned figures of 1/34, while Naman Dhir’s two overs were particularly economical (1/5) and included the wicket of Saishiv. Harsh Dubey conceded only 30 from his four, chipping in at key overs.
