After being dominant throughout the ICC U19 World Cup 2024 tournament, Team India faltered in the final against Australia as they lost by 79 runs. This outcome surely brings back memories for Indian fans of a similar situation during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, where the Men in Blue lost to the Aussies in the final.

In the U19 World Cup final, chasing the mammoth total of 253/7 posted by the Australian team after they chose to bat first, the Indian top order collapsed, losing quick wickets. Fans have taken to social media, particularly X (formerly known as Twitter), to express their thoughts on facing Australia in the final, emphasizing that it's not what the Indian side needs.

How did India lose?

The Aussies in 43.5 overs, defended their total as they won by 79 runs. India managed to score just 174 runs as they got all out. The Boys in Blue could not chase the total despite being dominant throughout the tournament.

Even the in-form batters, captain Uday Saharan (8) and Sachin Dhas (9) failed to reach double digits and were dismissed quite early. Opener Adarsh Singh who had remained at the crease for 47 runs, had witnessed his partners Arshin Kulkarni (3), Musheer Khan (22), Priyanshu Moliya (9), Aravelly Avanish (0) depart.

Later Raj Limbani (0), Murugan Abhishek (42) and Saumy Pandey (2) departed to see the Aussies win the title against the defending champions.

For the Aussies, Mahli Beardman and Raf MacMilllan have both taken three wickets each, while Callum Vidler took two and Charlie Anderson and Tom Straker have claimed one wicket each.
