The anticipation was for India to clinch victory in the final, especially after their stellar performance in the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023. However, the script took an unexpected turn as the Men in Blue fell short, losing by 6 wickets while chasing the below-par total of 240 runs. 

Emotions ran high, and the sight of tears in the eyes of players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Siraj added to the disappointment.

Witnessing players express their emotions, particularly stalwarts like Kohli and Rohit Sharma, raised concerns as this could potentially mark the end of their ODI cricket careers.

Post-match, KL Rahul, on his haunches, tried to console a tearful Siraj, while Kohli's emotional demeanour was captured on camera even before the game concluded at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.

After the customary handshakes, the Indian team retreated to the dressing room, with Jasprit Bumrah acknowledging the Indian fans with a wave, met by applause in appreciation. 

Australia, with their sixth title in the last 10 editions of the ODI World Cup, showcased their prowess once again.
