Just what Team India, and most importantly, the current No. 3 batter needed: Shubman Gill has gone on to score a century after underperforming in previous innings. Day 3 of the 2nd Test between India and England saw Gill receive two lifelines in the game. Both instances nearly saw him dismissed when he was at 4, but the batter capitalized on the opportunity provided and reached his century at Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

Amidst all the criticism and negativity that followed, Shubman Gill found redemption and reached triple digits in 132 balls. It appears that the 'Prince' has returned on a sunny Sunday afternoon in Vizag.

Fans also took to social media, particularly X (formerly known as Twitter), to praise the batter for regaining form when the team needed him the most.

At the time of writing this article, 52 overs have been bowled, and India has lost four wickets while amassing 201 runs, holding a commanding lead of 344 runs with Gill and Axar Patel at the crease.

Regrettably, Rajat Patidar's stay was short-lived as he departed for 9 runs, while Yashasvi Jaiswal couldn't replicate his first-inning double ton, falling for 17 runs. Additionally, Rohit Sharma was clean-bowled for 13, victims of James Anderson's bowling prowess.

The 41-year-old pacer shows no signs of slowing down and seems to have learned from Jasprit Bumrah's success, who claimed a six-wicket haul on Day 2, dismissing England for 253 runs. In the previous innings, the Men in Blue posted a total of 396 runs all-out, with Jaiswal achieving his maiden double-century, scoring 209 runs, while Gill contributed as the second-highest scorer with 34 runs.

During their chase, the visitors had a promising start, with Zak Crawley scoring 76 runs and Ben Duckett adding 21. However, their partnership was disrupted by Kuldeep Yadav.
