In the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup Super 4 match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and decided to bowl first. India made two changes from their lineups against Oman, while Pakistan also made two changes from their last match against UAE.
Just like the India vs Pakistan match on 14th September, both captains did not shake hands during the toss. Meantime, despite Pakistan Cricket Board’s appeal, Andy Pycroft continued as the match referee for this clash.
India won the toss and decided to bowl first on a pitch that is supposed to help the spinners in Dubai. However, as per the Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav, it is the dew that made him opt to bowl first.
The dew is supposed to get heavier as the match progresses and that will surely help the ball come onto the bat nicely. Moreover, that will make it tougher for the spinners to control the wet ball as well.
Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy, who were rested for the Oman match, have returned to the playing XI to replace Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana.
“We'll bowl first. Looks (like) a nice track, and yesterday there was dew. Since first round, we were thinking we're playing a knockout tournament, nothing changes. That was a completely different wicket (in Abu Dhabi). Quite normal, just another game. Bumrah and Varun come back for Arshdeep and Harshit,” Suryakumar stated after the toss.
Pakistani captain Salman Agha also echoed the thought to Suryakumar and said that he also wanted to bowl first. “Would've bowled first as well. It's a new game, new challenge. The mood is very normal. Pitch looks to be on the slower side. Want to start well with both bat and ball. Two changes. Hasan Nawaz and Khushdil Shah not playing,” Agha said during the toss.
