Playing the must-win game of the three-match T20I series in Rajkot against Sri Lanka, India saw two wickets fall within the Powerplay. While Ishan Kishan departed for just a run, Rahul Tripathi went on to play splendid innings of 35 off 16 balls.

Amid them was opener Shubman Gill, who post his T20I debut in Mumbai, had scored only 12 runs after two games. So coming in to bat in his third game for India, he played with caution. However, he played with too much caution and at one point saw him stay on 0 after facing more than eight balls.

Facing pacer Kasun Rajitha, he wasted all the balls, giving the bowler the first maiden over of the tournament.

Seeing the way the younger batter was playing in contrast to Tripathi's explosive start, fans slammed him and told him not to play keeping Team India's position in mind.

As of writing this article, India has scored 91 and lost two wickets. Gill (28* off 27) is accompanied by Suryakumar Yadav (24 off 14), who has also begun hitting boundaries.
