Pakistani captain Fatima Sana won the toss and decided to field first in the highly anticipated India Women vs Pakistan Women clash in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, in Colombo on Sunday. Both captains decided not to shake hands while making one change to their playing XIs from previous games.

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana won the toss and decided to field first. Sana, after the defeat against Bangladesh in their first match, wanted to use the early moisture on the pitch and struck early with the ball.

“We're going to bowl first, looks like there could be some moisture on the wicket,” Sana said during the toss.

Pakistan brought one change to their playing XI as Sadaf Shamas replaced Omaima Sohail. As per the Pakistani captain, they want to restrict India to anything below 250, and they are confident of chasing that score to achieve their first win in Women’s ODIs against India.

“One change for us - Sadaf Shamas replaces Omaima Sohail - our confidence is great, hopefully we'll play better today. Anything under 250 could be a good chase,” Sana added.

One change for India too - Amanjot out, Renuka in

Amanjot Kaur, who was India’s key contributor with the bat against Sri Lanka in their first match, missed out on selection due to being unwell. Medium pacer Renuka Singh, who was not in the playing XI in the last match, has replaced her for this key fixture.

“We played a good series here before the WC. We're thinking positively and are looking to do well. One unfortunate change - Amanjot isn't playing (she's ill), Renuka Thakur replaces her. We've gelled well as a team and looking forward to today's contest,” Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur said during the toss.

No handshake between captains

Just like OTTplay had reported earlier, there were no handshakes between the Indian and Pakistani captains during the toss. After what happened in the Men’s Asia Cup 2025, we expected no handshakes and only cricket between the nations, and that is exactly what happened before the match.
