It was a great occasion for India after The Elephant Whisperers, directed by Kartiki Gonsalves and produced by Guneet Monga, received the Best Documentary Short Film Oscar at the 75th Academy Awards. The movie was India's first Oscar victory this year.

RRR, a blockbuster film from SS Rajamouli, made history on Monday also won the coveted Oscar for its iconic dance sequence, Naatu Naatu, making it India's second victory this year. 

The song competed against Applause from Tell It Like a Woman, Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick and This Is a Life from Everything Everywhere All at Once. 

Hollywood stars Janelle Monáe and Kate Hudson presented the honours to Naatu Naatu composer MM Keeravani and lyricist Chandrabose on stage.

Soon after the announcement of the winners, Indian cricketers took to social media to pour in their wishes and praises for the two Oscar winners.

Dinesh Karthik, Ishant Sharma, VVS Laxaman and Virender Sehwag all took to social media to share their excitement.

The 75th Academy Awards is taking place at the legendary Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Deepika Padukone was also one of the presenters at this year's award ceremony alongside Dwayne Johnson.
