India secured victory over New Zealand in the 2nd T20I of the 2026 New Zealand tour of India at Raipur, powered by a strong batting performance in the chase.

The 2nd T20I between India and New Zealand was played in Raipur where both teams put up a brilliant batting performance. However, it was the hosts who took the game home, thanks to Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav's half-centuries. The batters wreaked havoc on New Zealand's bowling line-up and chased 209 runs in 15 overs.
When India put New Zealand to bat first, they didn;t expect the Kiwis to slam 208 runs in the first innings. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, the New Zealand batters kept scoring runs and went ahead to put up a mammoth total on the board. Rachin Ravindra scored 44 runs off 26 balls, including two boundaries and four sixes while Mitchell Santner scored 47 off 27 balls, including six boundaries and one six.
Kuldeep Yadav was the star bowler for India taking two wickets an conceding 35 runs in four overs. The rest of the bowlers were extremely expensive. Arshdeep Singh conceded 53 runs in four overs and failed to take a wicket. Overall, it was a good effort by the bowlers.

Indian openers were dismissed early this time, leaving it onto the rest of the batters to win the match. This time, Ishan Kishan went after the bowlers from the very first ball, scoring a half-century in 21 balls. He hit the fastest half-century against New Zealand, breaking Abhishek Sharma's record. He scored 76 off 32 balls, including 11 boundaries and four sixes while SKY scored an unbeaten 82 off 37 deliveries, including nine boundaries and four sixes.
New Zealand bowlers looked helpless throughout the innings as India finished the game in just 15.2 overs. With this win, India took a series lead 2-0. If they go on to win the next match, they will win the series.
