India wrapped up their home Test series against the West Indies in style, sealing a 2-0 victory that boosted their position in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle. The team displayed dominance across departments, led by captain Shubman Gill’s sharp leadership and strong individual performances from KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. While the win didn’t drastically alter India’s position in the standings, it improved their points percentage, keeping them firmly in the top four as they continue their quest for a WTC Final berth.

India strengthen their grip despite limited movement in standings

After their convincing seven-wicket win in the second Test in Delhi, India’s points percentage climbed to 61.90%, reflecting steady progress in the ongoing cycle. The top two spots, however, remained unchanged, with Australia continuing to lead the table and Sri Lanka holding on to second place. India’s improvement in points percentage narrowed the gap, ensuring they remain within striking distance of the leading teams heading into their upcoming fixtures.

The two-match series against the West Indies highlighted India’s bowling depth and batting maturity. Kuldeep Yadav emerged as the standout performer, taking eight wickets in the final match, while KL Rahul’s unbeaten half-century guided India home comfortably. Earlier in the series, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s composed century in Hyderabad set the tone for India’s dominance.

For the West Indies, the tour proved disappointing. They remained winless in the series and at the bottom of the WTC points table, with 0% points percentage, as inconsistency in both batting and bowling hurt their campaign.
