The Indian men's football team is set to take part in the CAFA Nations Cup 2025, set to take place from August 31 to September 8, jointly hosted by Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The Blue Tigers have been drafted in Group B, and all of their matches will be played in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

In recent times, the Indian Men's senior football team have gone through turmoil. With only one win in 2025, coach Manolo Maruquez also stepped down, and AIFF's quest for the new head coach is still to be revealed, with Khalid Jamil, Stephen Constantine, and Stefan Tarkovic leading the race.
With the announcement of the head coach schedule on August 1, 2025, the new coach will have the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Nations Cup 2025 as his first assignment for the Indian football team. This tournament will play a key role in India's preparation for the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers Final Round.
India will face Tajikistan on August 29, Islamic Republic of Iran on September 1, and Afghanistan on September 4. The time and the streaming details of the tournament are yet to be announced.
The top two teams from every group will advance to the play-off stage, which will see two games being played on September 8. The two group runners-up will play for third place in Dushanbe, while the two group winners will play the final in Tashkent.
CAFA has six nations - Afghanistan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. India and Oman are the invited teams in the tournament.
