Following the conclusion of the 2-match Test series, with India winning the 1st Test and the 2nd being interrupted by rain and resulting in a draw, the Indian side is gearing up to face West Indies in a three-match ODI series.
Having already secured a 1-0 victory against the Caribbean outfit in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) series, India is determined to maintain their winning momentum in the 50-over format as well.
India enters the ODI series as clear favourites, boasting an impressive track record against West Indies in bilateral ODI encounters since 2006. Throughout this period, India has emerged victorious in every series played against them.
On the other hand, West Indies has been struggling in the ODI format and even faced disappointment by failing to qualify for the Cricket World Cup 2023, which will be held in India later this year.
In terms of head-to-head records in ODIs, India has an edge, having won 70 out of the 139 ODIs played against the West Indies. Additionally, four matches concluded with no result, and two games ended in a thrilling tie.
When considering matches played on West Indies' home turf, the Caribbean side holds a narrow lead, having won 20 matches compared to India's 19 victories. Over the years, West Indies have hosted a total of 42 ODI matches, with three of them being abandoned due to various reasons.
As the ODI series commences, both teams will be eager to display their best performances, and all eyes will be on India to see if they can continue their dominant streak against the West Indies.
