With their first ever World Cup glory in sight, India would like to continue their winning run against Pakistan on Sunday.

India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, started really well against the Sri Lankan team in a rain-affected match in Guwahati in the opening match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. Although the Indian top order batters could not score that many and the middle order failed, Amanjot Kaur and Deepti Sharma made sure they reached a respectable total in the first inning.
Amanjot and Deepti scored fifties, and Deepti then bowled brilliantly to help India win by 59 runs.

However, for Pakistan, the story is very different. Although they were expected to win against Bangladesh, who are playing only in their second Women’s World Cup, they failed to put up a fight against them.
Their batters failed miserably and then could not take wickets in regular intervals with the ball as well. Bangladesh won the match easily by 7 wickets. However, on a spin-friendly Colombo pitch, they would look to bounce back both with bat and ball.
