South Africa Women’s cricket team won the toss and decided to bowl first in the much-awaited INDW vs SAW clash on Thursday in Visakhapatnam. Both India and South Africa brought in one change to their playing XI. If India wins the match, they will reach the top of the points table.

The toss was delayed

Due to the rain right before the scheduled time of the match at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, the covers came in quickly, which delayed the toss. Not only that the outfield also took time to get ready for the match and toss.

Although the toss was supposed to happen at 3.15 pm IST after the delay, a second delay meant the toss would take place at 3.30 pm IST, with the match starting at 4 pm IST.

There was no loss of overs due to the delay.

South African captain Laura Wolvaardt won the toss and chose to bowl first to take advantage of the early moisture due to the rain and covers. She also felt that it would be a high-scoring match and they would love to chase the score down. Moreover, she went on to praise Tanzim Brits, who scored a ton in the last match against New Zealand.

“We are gonna have a bowl first. Looks like a very nice wicket. Should be pretty high-scoring. Very happy with how we played in the last game. She (Brits) has been amazing, long may the form continue,” Laura said after the toss.

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur also wanted to bowl first. However, she did not look that unhappy with batting first as they won both their matches, batting first.

“Looking at the conditions, bowling. Hopefully, we'll put a decent total. Amanjot is back in place of Renuka. We need to keep showing improvement. First two games, we wanted to win and we did that. We want to keep doing the good things,” Harmanpreet expressed after the toss.
