What transpired between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) Eliminator? In the key IPL encounter, the team led by Krunal Pandya was defeated by 81 runs.

What's worse is that LSG went with Kyle Mayers instead of Quinton de Kock, who only managed to score 18 runs off 13 balls.

Did LSG make a blunder by leaving Quinton de Kock off of the starting XI? Given that there were no reports of injuries, nobody knew why he was excluded. Was that a tactic that backfired?

Post the match, Krunal was asked why did they leave the South African batter out and he said, "Quinton de Kock is a quality batter, but Mayers has a better record here, so we went ahead (in the playing XI) with him".

With this victory, the Mumbai Indians have advanced to Friday's qualifier two in Ahmedabad. They must defeat Gujarat Titans (GT) on Friday in order to qualify for the IPL 2023 Final.

The CSK team earlier defeated the Titans and advanced to the final. They are currently awaiting their rival for the crucial match on Sunday.
