The second Sunday double-header clash is certainly intriguing for various reasons, as Match 5 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will witness last season's finalists, Gujarat Titans (GT), facing off against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Fans were particularly interested to see how the former GT skipper Hardik Pandya would be received in Ahmedabad after he left GT and returned to MI and took on the captaincy there replacing Rohit Sharma.

Indeed, it appeared that many were not receptive to the MI captain, as reports suggest he was booed by the crowd during the toss. Numerous fans took to social media to express how the Mumbai captain was subjected to boos, sharing videos from the toss. However, there were also many who claimed they could not discern any booing, only the enthusiastic cheers of fans eager for the game to commence.

In the clash, the Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to field against GT. Hardik Pandya mentioned that they had opted for four quicks, three spinners, and seven batters. 

As for GT, they too have a new captain in the form of the young Indian, Shubman Gill. During the toss, he expressed his excitement, stating, "Feels very excited, to be able to captain at a stadium where I have a lot of fond memories." For the Gujarat side, Umesh Yadav, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Spencer Johnson received their debut caps.
