A knock to remember for ages for Shashank Singh! He has delivered when it was needed the most as he along with Ashutosh Sharma (31 off 17) led Punjab Kings (PBKS), to victory against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 17 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma posted a 43-run partnership off 22 balls that helped PBKS chase down 200 quite easily.

No one gave Punjab a chance at winning as Shikhar Dhawan (1), Jonny Bairstow (22), Prabhsimran Singh (35), Sam Curran (5), Sikandar Raza (15), and Jitesh Sharma (16) all fell in quick succession. However, the gameplay of Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma impressed fans, leading to praise for the Indian rookies who handed GT a loss in their fortress.

For GT, Noor Ahmad picked up two wickets, while all the other bowlers, including Azmatullah Omarzai, Umesh Yadav, Rashid Khan, Mohit Sharma, and Darshan Nalkande, took one wicket each.

Most successful chases of 200+ targets in IPL:

6 by Punjab Kings

5 by Mumbai Indians

3 by Kolkata Knight Riders & Chennai Super Kings

Earlier, skipper Shubman Gill led GT from the front, scoring an unbeaten 89, while Kane Williamson (26), Sai Sudharsan (33), and Rahul Tewatia (23*) all played crucial cameos. For PBKS, Kagiso Rabada picked up two wickets, conceding 44 runs, while Harpreet Brar and Harshal Patel took one wicket each.

This has surely been a remarkable fightback from PBKS as they now sit in the fifth spot, while GT moved one spot below them, both having two wins and two losses.
