When the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) began and fans saw Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni not captaining their respective teams, many termed it as the end of an era. However, at the season opener between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, fans eagerly anticipated the reunion of Kohli and Dhoni.

And surely enough, the two cricketers did not disappoint as cameras captured them sharing smiles and laughing together. Kohli is seen keeping his hand on Dhoni's shoulder while the former CSK skipper is seen laughing at something the RCB batter is saying.

Soon, fans took screenshots and shared the photos of the duo on social media, particularly X (formerly known as Twitter). Sharing the pics, fans called it the 'moment of the day.'

As for the clash, after winning the toss, RCB opted to bat first. Despite the side getting off to a good start, with captain Faf du Plessis scoring a breezy 23-ball 35, they faced setbacks as Rajat Patidar and Glenn Maxwell both departed for ducks after du Plessis' dismissal.

As of writing this article, RCB went from 41 for 0 to 42 for 3 with Mustafizur Rahman claiming two wickets in one over and Deepak Chahar having one to his name after bowling an expensive over.

Currently, Royal Challengers have scored 79 runs in 12 overs with Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik at the crease, looking to stabilise the RCB innings after the fall of five quick wickets.

Kohli departed for 21 while Cameron Green went back for 18, courtesy of Mustafizur Rahman who now has claimed 4 wickets.
