The first match of Sunday (April 21) doubleheader in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) saw the host city win by just 1 run at the Eden Gardens, while the second game between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Gujarat Titans (GT) saw the visitors claim victory by 3 wickets at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh.

Seeing the two teams face defeats, especially by narrow margins, prompted fans to discuss how both sides are putting on a good game of cricket but are unable to secure the desired wins. Many even took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to discuss the 'bad luck' plaguing the two teams.

KKR vs RCB highlights:

It was an absolute thriller that fans got to witness. Mitch Starc bowled the last over, which saw Karn Sharma smash him for 3 sixes, bringing the total down to 3 needed off 2. However, KKR kept their nerve and clinched the one-run win.

Chasing 223 to win, Virat Kohli got off to a bit of a flyer before being dismissed by a loopy full-toss, leaving him and his team undoubtedly unhappy. Faf du Plessis soon followed, but Rajat Patidar and Will Jacks kept RCB going, with both scoring respective half-centuries.

At the halfway stage, it appeared that RCB was well ahead, but Andre Russell came on and dismissed both set batters in the same over. The lower order of RCB ended up throwing away a couple more wickets, leading to their defeat.

PBKS vs GT highlights:

All five matches at this venue have gone to the final over, but somehow, the home team managed to win just one. Chasing 143, Gujarat lost Wriddhiman Saha inside the powerplay, but Sai Sudharsan joined his skipper Shubman Gill, and the equation was perfect.

Gill was looking in good touch as well, but his miscued loft resulted in his dismissal. David Miller also did not contribute many runs, and later, Sudharsan and Azmatullah Omarzai were dismissed in quick succession.

The Titans slipped from 77/1 to 103/4, and with 38 runs needed off four overs, the game was pretty much in the balance. However, Rahul Tewatia was at the crease and stayed till the end, striking a couple of boundaries. Harshal Patel picked up a couple of wickets towards the end, but that only delayed the inevitable.
