In just 13 overs, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who won the toss and elected to bat first, scored 171 runs against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The side's aggressor was all-rounder Sunil Narine (85 off 39), who opened the innings and maintained his momentum until his dismissal. Despite losing the wicket of Philip Salt (18), Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who achieved his maiden IPL 50, continued the onslaught till he too departed.

The sight of KKR smashing a flurry of runs had their co-owner and Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan cheering from the stands. Shortly after being captured by the camera on the big screen, fans swiftly took screenshots and shared them on X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their joy as he gave a standing ovation to Narine and even cheered for Raghuvanshi's half-century.

As for the clash, DC skipper Rishabh Pant is in search of a breakthrough for his side and has utilized 7 bowlers already, with Anrich Nortje drawing first blood and sending back the debutant while Mitchell Marsh dismissed the key player - Narine.

Why DC are playing their home games of IPL 2024 in Visakhapatnam?

DC is playing some of their home games in Vizag because the Arun Jaitley stadium hosted the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 games, including the Eliminator and Final, totalling 11 games in 13 days. Due to this extensive usage, the Delhi stadium ground couldn't be prepared in time for the IPL games and hence, an alternate venue was selected.
