It's official, the five-time champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), are now almost out of the race for qualifying for the playoffs. It comes out as a massive shocker for the fans as CSK continued its poor form against SRH in match 43 of the IPL 2025.
Playing at their home in Chennai, MA Chidambaram Stadium, CSK was restricted at 154/10 in 19.5 overs by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Youngsters Ayush Mhatre and Dewald Brevis made 30 (19) and 42 (25), respectively, helping CSK to post a decent total.
SRH bowlers bowled excellent lines while mixing up with their pace to deceive opposition batters. Harshal Patel was the pick of the bowlers for SRH with outstanding bowling figures of 4-0-28-4.
In response, SRH lost three quick wickets with Abhishek Sharma (0), Travis Head (19), and Heinrich Klaasen (7) back in the dugout. CSK were right in the game, but SRH middle-order batters Kamindu Mendis (32) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (19) chased the target in 18.5 overs with five wickets remaining.
With this win, SRH have kept their chances alive for qualifying for the playoffs. The team cannot afford to lose even a single match at this point in time. Meanwhile CSK's chances have further diminished; they are currently placed at the bottom with two wins and seven losses in 9 matches. The team now needs to win all their remaining matches while ensuring a good net run rate at the same time.
