Match 70 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Ekana Stadium turned out to be a high-scoring matchup. LSG, playing at their home ground, set a massive target of 228 to chase for RCB in 20 overs. The team was put to bat first after RCB elected to bowl.
LSG lost its first wicket in the form of Breetzke at 25. After that, Marsh was joined by skipper Rishabh Pant for a massive partnership of 152 runs for the second wicket. Both Marsh and Pant smashed RCB bowlers all around the park. Mitchell Marsh scored 67 off 37 balls before Bhuvi got caught behind. Rishabh Pant carried on with his attacking mindset and hammered a century. The player went not out at 118 from 61 balls, including 11 fours and 8 sixes. For RCB, it was Nuwan Thushara who delivered an economical spell of 4-0-26-1.
In reply, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli gave a solid start with an opening stand of 61 runs in 5.4 overs. LSG pulled things back in their favour with two quick wickets, bringing RCB down at 90/3. Post Virat Kohli's dismissal with over 100 runs required to win, things looked tense for RCB, but Mayank Agarwal (41) and Jitesh Sharma (85) got their team over the line in 18.4 overs.
With an emphatic win over Lucknow Super Giants, RCB have positioned themselves at number 2 in the overall standings. This means that they would be facing Punjab Kings on May 29 at Mullanpur, Chandigarh. The winner of that match will directly advance to the finals of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
The match between RCB and PBKS is expected to be crackerjack of a contest as both teams showcased excellent performances in the league stages. PBKS would be playing at their home ground would certainly like to extract something from the wicket. Meanwhile RCB who won majority of their matches away from their home would fancy their chances again.
