Sanju Samson, the talented Indian cricketer, recently opened up about his emotional journey in international cricket during the CEAT Awards 2025. Reflecting on more than a decade of hard work and persistence, Samson described how his approach to the game helped him overcome challenges and emerge stronger on the international stage.

For ten years, Sanju Samson quietly dedicated himself to improving both mentally and physically. He emphasized the importance of focusing on the process rather than external distractions.

“Someone like me who kept working silently, patiently & kept putting in the work mentally and physically with all the challenges and obstacles in front of me, but always focused on the process and always focused on my inner-self instead of focusing on the outside noises,” Samson shared.

This mindset helped him navigate the uncertainties and the drawbacks he had over the 10 years as an Indian cricketer.

Despite the long wait, Samson’s determination never wavered. His patience paid off when he finally got the chance to showcase his talent on the international stage.

In a remarkable burst of form, he scored three match-winning centuries in just five T20 international matches, which set him up to be a mainstay in the T20I squad.

“After a long wait of 10 years, when I got the opportunity, I was able to score three match-winning centuries in the gap of five T20 international matches,” Sanju added while sharing his journey in Indian cricket till now.

The Indian wicket-keeper, who scored 436 runs at an average of 43.60 and a strike rate of 180.16 in 2024, won the T20I batter of the year at the CEAT Awards 2025.

Rohit Sharma won a special award for leading Team India to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, while Varun Chakravarthy won the T20I bowler of the year award.
