Latest ICC Rankings: Indian star breaks all-time record, Hardik replaced by Pakistan’s Saim Ayub

India's Abhishek Sharma has made history by reaching the highest-ever rating on the ICC Men’s T20I Batter Rankings, surpassing a record that stood for nearly five years. The 25-year-old left-hander achieved a rating of 931 points after a stylish half-century in India's semi-final victory over Sri Lanka at the Asia Cup, overtaking England’s Dawid Malan, who held the previous best rating of 919 points set in 2020.

Sharma’s remarkable rise in the rankings highlights his growing dominance in T20 international cricket. Since making his international debut only last year, he has rapidly amassed this impressive record.

His performance in the Asia Cup was especially notable, as he scored a total of 314 runs at an average of 44.85, earning him the Player of the Tournament award. This surge has not only propelled him to the top of the batter rankings but also placed him ahead of Indian teammates Suryakumar Yadav (912 points) and Virat Kohli (909 points), with Sharma finishing the week at 926 rating points.

With his 314 runs at the top of the order, he also broke the record for the most runs in a single Asia Cup T20I edition.

Salt at No.2, Tilak stays at No.3 in T20I rankings

In the second spot after Abhishek Sharma in the ICC T20I ranking is England’s Phil Salt, who trails by 82 rating points.

India's Tilak Varma, with 213 runs during the Asia Cup, remains comfortably placed in third.

The Asia Cup also saw upward movements in the rankings for other players: Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka rose two spots to fifth place following a career-best rating after scoring 261 runs, while teammates Kusal Perera and India’s Sanju Samson also climbed the rankings by 8 spots.

Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan made a significant jump of 11 places to 13th after impressive performances.

Varun stays at the top, Kuldeep rises to 12th

On the bowling front, India’s Varun Chakravarthy continues to dominate the ICC Men’s T20I Bowling Rankings, retaining the No.1 spot following his seven wickets at the Asia Cup.

Kuldeep Yadav, another Indian spinner, jumped nine places to 12th, reflecting his impactful Asia Cup 2025.

Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi rose 12 spots to equal 13th, while Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain climbed six places to 20th, thanks to strong performances during the tournament.

Hardik gets replaced by Ayub

There was a significant shift in the all-rounder rankings as well, with Pakistan’s Saim Ayub, despite a shocking Asia Cup 2025 with the bat, displacing India’s Hardik Pandya from the No.1 position for the first time.

Ayub’s impressive bowling, especially eight wickets during the Asia Cup, propelled him up four places to claim the top spot.

Pandya dropped to second, trailing Ayub by eight rating points.

Other players making advances included Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz, rising four places to 13th, and Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka, climbing three spots to equal 30th.
