The 2022 Laver Cup etched itself into ATP history as one of the most unforgettable moments as it featured Roger Federer's farewell match. It was a tearful occasion as the 20-time Grand Slam champion Federer bid adieu to tennis at the O2 Arena, accompanied by the likes of Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray.
Now, returning with its sixth edition, the Laver Cup 2023 will introduce a fresh lineup as Team Europe and Team World once again clash for supremacy.
What is the Laver Cup?
The Laver Cup mirrors the Ryder Cup in golf, featuring a team-based competition where points are earned by the victor of each match. In this event, six athletes represent Team Europe, and an equal number represent Team World. They compete in singles and doubles matches, striving to be the first to accumulate 13 points.
When and where is the 2023 Laver Cup being held?
Historically, the Laver Cup has followed a pattern of alternating between the USA and Europe each year. However, this year marks a significant change, as the tournament will take place in Canada for the first time, specifically at Vancouver's Rogers Arena. The event is scheduled to span from September 22 to 24.
Who is playing in the 2023 Laver Cup?
The lineup for this year's Laver Cup differs significantly from that of 2022. Notably, Roger Federer won't be participating due to his retirement, although he will be present at the event. Additionally, star players like Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray have not currently committed to the tournament.
Team Europe will be led by Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, and the debutant Holger Rune. The roster also includes Hubert Hurkacz and the seasoned Gael Monfils, with 19-year-old Arthur Fils named as an alternate.
Team World, on the other hand, will be spearheaded by Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, along with American duo Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe. Tommy Paul, Francisco Cerundolo, and Ben Shelton complete the team, while Christopher Eubanks serves as an alternate.
Nick Kyrgios was initially part of Team World but withdrew due to an ongoing injury. As in previous years, the team captains will be Bjorn Borg for Team Europe and John McEnroe for Team World.

Each of the three days of the Laver Cup is set to feature a lineup of three singles matches and one doubles match. However, the final day may conclude more swiftly if the last matches are not required to determine the final outcome.
